  • Picture Shows : Erik Cavallari (l) as Charles Dogson, Tomomi Sato as the White Rabbit (centre) and Sophie Martin as Alice...Scottish Ballet unveils its brand new production of Alice, based on Lewis Carroll's stories and created for the Company by Artistic Director Ashley Page. ..Picture by Drew Farrell...Opening at Theatre Royal, Glasgow, on Tuesday 12th April, Alice is an extraordinary adventure in which our heroine tumbles through a camera lens and finds herself in a strange dreamlike place full of curious characters...The costumes, created by designer Antony McDonald, include a glamorous Cheshire Cat in a showgirl-style corset, Humpty Dumpty with design cues from eccentric late British artist Leigh Bowery, a trumpet-playing Mock Turtle dressed in Harris Tweed fabric, and a Mad Hatter with a very impressive hat...Alice opens at Theatre Royal, Glasgow, on 12th April and runs until 16th April, before touring Edinburgh, Inverness, Cardiff and Aberdeen..

  • Edinburgh Children Fold Words they've never been able to say before...Pictured: Children from Liberton Primary School, Edinburgh Folding Words at a workshop run as part of the Edinburgh International Festival's Bank of Scotland Connecting to Culture programme...The group of 11 year-olds are making origami cranes from a special letter they have each written about something they have always wished to express, in a project called Folding Words taking place at The Hub, Edinburgh...The letters range widely in subject matter - from deeply personal and moving feelings about bereavement to memories, dreams and wishes for the future, and favourite holidays...The origami cranes will be installed in the Temperate foyer and walkway at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh between 14 August and 6 September.
